1. OVERVIEW

Intelligent Transport Systems (Intelligent Transport Systems - ITS) is an advanced system of science and technology applications aimed at providing solutions, useful services for people and vehicles in traffic, helping organize traffic safer, more convenient and limit accidents and incidents when participating in traffic.

ITS uses the advances of information technology and telecommunications to link people, road systems and vehicles on the road into an information and telecommunications network for optimal transportation on the highway.

2. CHARACTERISTICS

ITS has the participation of the following people: People, vehicles, transportation infrastructure and advanced applications in IT and telecommunications to minimize the role of people in operating traffic activities. When people no longer play any role, it will reach the level of automation. This is the highest goal of ITS. To achieve this goal, ITS must have three stages: information gathering, information processing and delivery of information to traffic participants.

The main tasks of ITS include:

  • Helping completing road infrastructure and handling emergency traffic incidents;
  • Modernizing automatic charging stations and electronic weighing stations;
  • Reducing accidents, traffic jams and reduce environmental pollution;
  • Saving time, money and fuel, creating the most favorable conditions for travel and good delivery;        
  • Managing the main traffic routes, regulating the movement of vehicles on the road with electronic signs;
  • Creating information systems for pedestrians, popularizing the culture of traffic and supporting the process of deploying and operating the public transport system in a flexible, proactive and anti-congestion manner.
  • Contributing to the production of intelligent vehicles, limiting environmental pollution and improving the efficiency of traffic safety equipment.

3. Intelligent Traffic Ecosystem

The platform for developing an ecosystem of intelligent transport solutions and products includes:
